Thursley Common

Thursley Common

Approx 4 hrs

Thursley Common is a Haven of Wildlife and one of the reasons it is dear to us is the chance to see Colin the famous Cuckoo, along with others who arrive mid-April.

Colin has been returning to the site for at least 8 years and is one of the oldest in the UK. Celebrities like Colin aside we also love it because of its diversity, in particular its a a great habitat for Dragonflies.... and hence, Hobby's who arrive mid May.

There is such an array of other birdlife to see - from Curlew, Stonechat, Redstart, Reed Bunting, Dartford Warbler and Wood Lark can all be found here together with Lizards, Snakes and Damselflies.

There was a fire on the site in May 2020 which destroyed most of the 1.3km of boardwalk together with over 100ha of the heath, Im glad to say that the boardwalk was replaced at the end of 2022 and again gives an amazing opportunity to walk through one of the most beautiful heath & marsh land in the country.

This special Destination Experiences will only go ahead with a minimum of 4 people.
